Corrosion
Corrosion arises from the chemical or electrochemical reaction between
a metal and substances with which it comes into contact, e.g.
electrolyte solutions, humid gases or melts. Mechanical loads can also
favour corrosion.
The consequences are attrition, pitting corrosion, cracks and rust.
